Obituary of Robert I. Ruit

Robert I. Ruit, 101, of Poughquag, NY passed away on February 3, 2022, at the Grand at Pawling. He was born on January 12, 1921, in Patterson, New Jersey to the late Issac and the late Minerva (Sterkenburger) Ruit.

Robert "Pop" was born and raised in Patterson, NJ. He enlisted and served in the NAVY from September 22, 1942, and Honorable Discharged on April 29, 1946. He was an Electricians Mate First Class on the USS Tarred Vessel. He was married to Gladys C. Laux and they lived in Yonkers, NY. He worked for New York Life Insurance in Manhattan.

He later moved to Wappingers Falls NY where he was a self-employed maintenance worker and worked for the Town of Wappingers. Pop loved to Saltwater Fish and spend time with his family. Robert also enjoyed attending Seniors at Wappingers and the Town of Beekman and developed new friendships.

Survivors include son and daughter in-law George and MaryAnne Ruit Pembroke Massachusetts, son Thomas Ruit Millerton New York, daughter-in-law Gail Ruit Poughkeepsie New York, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his two sons Robert and Ronald Ruit.

Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
