Obituary of Mariana C Nunez

Mariana C. Nuñez, 72, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, June 10, 2022. She was born the daughter of Carlos H. Ruiz and Maria Ruiz on April 6, 1950 in Ambato, Ecuador. As an adult, Mariana immigrated to and became a citizen of the United States of America. She resided in New York City before moving to Poughkeepsie in 2019. Mariana dedicated her life to raising her two children, Christopher Nuñez and Dorothy Nuñez. Mariana had a long career with the New York Times and later in life became an avid artist working primarily with diamonds. Mariana loved to travel, play bingo and enjoyed a good prank. After retirement, she divided her time between New York and Georgia at her house by Lake Lanier. Mariana was predeceased by her father and is survived by her mother Maria, brother Carlos T. Ruiz, her children Christopher and Dorothy (Andrea), and her granddaughter. In her final weeks Mariana was visited by many friends and family. She appreciated each and every visit and the family is grateful for everyone who was able to come. Many thanks to the Hudson Valley Hospice staff which cared for Mariana at her home for the last seven months of her life. In Mariana's final moments she was being serenaded at home via music therapy, a weekly service provided by Hudson Valley Hospice.
