Obituary of Doris Jean Adams Higgs

Doris Jean Adams Higgs was born on July 28, 1946 at Mahopac Hospital in Mahopac Falls, NY to Stanley and Viola Emma (Hoysradt) Adams.

Jean attended Mahopac Schools and upon graduation she went to Nursing School at Grass Lands. After graduating, Jean worked at Westchester Medical Center Emergency Room which she loved because "you never knew what you were going to get." Jean also worked at Kent Nursing Home for many years before going to Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring in the Maternity ward. Then she went to the East Fishkill Highway Department where Jean worked for 33 years and became everyone's Mom.

On October 30, 1965, Jean married James Higgs at the Red Mills Baptist Church in Mahopac Falls. He predeceased her on August 31, 2003 as well as a son Timothy Patrick in 1972.

Surviving are her sister and husband Lucille and Jack Moss of South Carolina, 3 children, Kevin and Becky Higgs of Millbrook, Brian and Erica Higgs of Poughkeepsie, Wendy and Bifford Skinner of Wisconsin, 2 grandchildren, Shyanne Skinner and Abby Higgs, 2 cousins, Lonnie Vater of Pine Plains and Cindy Koch of Guilderland plus several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Timothy P.
