Obituary of Christine P. Lucas
Christine P. Lucas, 57, of Poughkeepsie passed away early Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Vassar Hospital while in the comforting presence of two of her closest friends.
She was born July 3, 1965, in Binghamton, NY, of the late Roger Peo and Judith (Briskie) Lucas.
Chris earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Dutchess Community Collegewhile working as a staffing coordinator at Vassar Hospital. As a Registered Nurse she primarily worked at St Francis /Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and later at Caremount Medical.
Chris was devoted in her Christian faith and was a parishioner at Poughkeepsie Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
She enjoyed traveling with her dear friend Susan Jean, gardening, making bracelets for her many friends, photography, a good cup of tea, and took great pride in her home. She was an amazing preceptor for new nurses, she displayed compassion and empathy toward others, and advocated strongly for her patients and peers.
Having the experience of losing her mother just 8 months ago, Chris remained strong while fighting cancer with all her strength until it overpowered her.
Left to cherish her memories are her stepfather John “Jack” Lucas, fur babies Tuck and Aby, her close friends whom she referred to them as her “Warrior Angels”, and numerous other friends.
Services will be held on November 26, 2022, at Poughkeepsie Methodist Church New Hackensack Rd Poughkeepsie, New York at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
