Obituary of Robert L. Harris

Robert L. Harris passed away on December 5, 2022at the Fountains in Millbrook. Bob was born in Boston, MA on December 26, 1931, and was brought up in nearby South Hampton, NH by his adoptive parents Edward and Amelia Harris.  He married the love of his life, Audrey J. Hurdiss on June 12, 1954, in Tonawanda, NY.  Audrey predeceased him on February 18, 2021.

Bob graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH in 1949.  He then served our country in the Army during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of Sargent first class.  In 1955 he returned to the University of New Hampshire where he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  He was employed by IBM for 34 years, retiring in 1993 as a Senior Engineer. 

On a personal note, Bob loved animals, especially his horses, dogs, and cats, and had considered a career as a veterinarian. Motorcycling, downhill skiing and gardening were also great interests, and he and Audrey enjoyed them for many years.

He is survived by many great friends.

Visitation for Audrey and Bob will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie NY.

Funeral Service will be held for Audrey and Bob at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or your favorite charity.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
