Obituary of Renee N. Tanner

Renee N. Tanner, 83, of Pleasant Valley, New York passed away on December 19, 2022. She was born on September 26, 1939 in Rhinebeck, New York to the late Lester and the late Estelle (Pikula) Palmatier. Renee was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School in 1957. Prior to attending Poughkeepsie High School, she was educated in the Pine Plains School District.

Renee was a Manager for North River Insurance Company and also worked at Vail and Sutton Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. She was also a member of the 50 + Club and the Widows & Widowers Group at Blessed Kateri. Renee loved to play cards, cook, travel, and do crafts.

She was the wife of George Tanner. They were married on June 13, 1965 at St. John the Baptists Church in Poughkeepsie. George predeceased her on November 22, 2009. They lived in LaGrange-Pleasant Valley for many years. They also enjoyed life at their second home on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. Renee moved to The Villages, Florida in 2013. She most recently lived at the Steeplechase Independent Retirement Home in Oxford, Florida.

Survivors include son David Tanner, his wife Diane, and grandchildren Sarah & Matthew Tanner of New Paltz, New York; sister Doris Glusenkamp of Poughkeepsie, New York; sister Jean Brendline of Hudson, New York; Nieces and nephews: Michelle Pells; Terri Odekirk; Patti Davis; Gayle Harrison; Paul Brendline; and Robert Brendline. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Ronald Glusenkamp and Calvin Brendline, and her nephew Jeffrey S. Pells.

Calling hours will be from 8:30-9:30 am on Monday January 9that the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie at 10:00 am with Burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
