Obituary of Frederick McCray

Frederick McCray, 75, of Pleasant Valley, NY passed away on December 30, 2022.  He was born on March 31, 1947, in Yonkers, New York. He was the youngest of three sons born to the late Edward D. and Lucille Johnson-McCray.

Fred was a graduate of Tuckahoe High School and attended Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Fred was a member of the IUOE Local 137 – Operating Engineers since August 1973 before he retired in 2003. Following his retirement Fred worked with the Poughkeepsie Middle School as a Peace and Order Officer and he volunteered as an Assistant Football coach.

Fred loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved sharing stories about his wife, grandchildren, football, and what was on the stove.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Nicole McCray(Joyce), sons Frederick McCray Jr & Keith McCray (Anne), stepdaughters TyChe’ Harris & She’ron Moore, granddaughters Anise McCray, Dyani & Brooklyn Mattar, grandson Keith McCray Jr., sister-in-law Jackie Monroe-McCray as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sheron (Shea) H. Moore-McCray, his brothers Edward A. and Gary McCray, his aunt Fredricka White and great aunt Erma McCray.
