Obituary of James R. Baker

James R. Baker, 82, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on February 24, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1940, in Newburgh, New York to the late William and the late Margaret (Woods) Baker.

He was a Machinist for Dupont & Stouffer and was also employed in the produce department at Price Copper.

James was a local resident all of his life. He enjoyed bowling, loved westerns, loved and was devoted to his family, and was a big JETS and METS fan.

He was the husband of the late Elsie M. Hatt Baker, they were married on June 18, 1966, in Newburgh, New York, and she predeceased him on January 20, 2021. 

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Sharyn and Vrelin North Poughkeepsie New York, grandchildren Sarah and David, sister and brother-in-law Sharyn and Robert Knoll of Liberty Township Ohio, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Faith Baker Clifton Park NY, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.

James was predeceased by his nephew Gregory Knoll.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY, Services will follow at 12:30 PM. 

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
