Obituary of Shirley M. Meyers

Shirley M. Meyers, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away in Frederick, Maryland on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was 93 years old. Shirley was a 3^rd generation resident of Poughkeepsie, the only child of Thomas and Ida Graham. She attended local schools, graduating from Poughkeepsie High School in 1947 and the Krissler Business Institute in 1948. Her first full time job was in the office of St. Francis Hospital for 3 years. She then went on to work in the Postal Inspection Service Sector of the US Postal Service for 35 years. During and after her full time employment, Shirley worked part time for several persons and groups including 16 years for the Southeastern NY Library Resources Council. She was a Presbyterian all her life. She was a former member of Oak Grove Grange and was a member of Club 60 and Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center for more than 20 years. She also belonged to TriTown of Dutchess County.

Shirley’s only survivors are several cousins, adoptive nieces, nephews and many friends. There will be no calling hours. She requested that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

There will be a graveside Entombment Service at the Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery on Thursday March 2, 2023 at 1230pm.                                                             .
