Obituary of Elida (Kathy) Villa Pena
Elida (Kathy) Villa Peña, of Beacon NY passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2023 while in medical care in
Poughkeepsie NY. Known as Kathy to many of her friends and family; she was born Elida Villa Peña,
daughter to Jacinto Villa and Antonia Peña in San Francisco de Macorís of the Dominican Republic on
May 16, 1955.
A strong, determined, and passionate woman. In her late 20s she entered America (with God by her
side) with the intent to provide a better life for her family. She pushed herself to learn English, and was
proud of her career success. Working many years for Marriott at IBM she worked her way up from a
non-English speaking front-line worker to a bilingual supervisor. Overseeing her department at the IBM
location, Marriott recognized her for her achievements. She was also an entrepreneur and established
great friendships within the Beacon community. Truly embracing the “Im my own boss” mentality that
was naturally her. Elida was always very independent and hard working. She enjoyed being a sole
proprietor of a retail fashion store that she built all her own. She opened her business ‘3 Bs’ which stood
for Bueno ,Bonito, y Barato in 1996. She opened a storefront located on Main Street in Beacon that we
knew as ‘Casa de Jonsi'.
Elida, was a proud mother of 4 children, 9 biological grand babies, and cared deeply for all of her family.
Her mother, Antonia, was very dear to her heart. After all Elida's own children were grown, she took in
her 2 nd eldest granddaughter whom she loved very much.
She fought hard and will remain forever in the hearts of her loved ones, but shes in the arms of Jesus
now.
