Obituary of Edward J. Ireland Jr.

Edward J. Ireland Jr., Jr., 76, of Poughkeepsie, NY entered into enternal rest surrounded by his family on March 17, 2023. He was born on January 13, 1947, in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Edward J. and the late Doris C. (Meisener) Ireland Sr.

Ed was a graduate of Arlington High School Class of 1965 and played basketball while in High School.

He served during the Vietnam war in the US Navy from 1965 to 1969, receiving 6 medals.

He was hired in 1971 as an Arlington Fireman. During his career he was promoted to Lieutenant and then to Deputy Chief, retiring in 1994.

He was the husband of Patricia Knapp they were married on September 1, 1973, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Patricia predeceased him on December 4, 2012.

Ed was a member of the Arlington Professional Firefighters Local 2393, he was a 34-year member of the Poughkeepsie ELKS BPOE 275 and a 25-year member of the American Legion Post 1302.

Ed loved NASCAR, riding his Harley, and watching baseball and basketball. Ed enjoyed his life with friends and family. His love for his two grandsons was unconditional and meant the world to him and made him proud.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Keith and Dianna Livingston of Milton New York, and Grandchildren Zachary and Travis Milton New York, cousins Barry and Candace Ireland of Myrtle Beach, Bonnie Milne of Pleasant Valley, and Lynn and Judy Ireland.
 

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York. 

Funeral Services will be 10 am Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Funeral Home with Burial to Follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Poughkeepsie.
