Obituary of Joseph A. Rizzo
Joseph A. Rizzo 73 of Poughkeepsie, New York passed away on March 19, 2023, at Westchester Medical Center.
Joseph was born in Poughkeepsie on September 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Phillip and the late Mary Fasciani Rizzo.
On June 29, 2013, in Poughkeepsie Joseph married Bernadette O’Brien.
Joseph was a life long resident of Poughkeepsie, New York and graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
Joseph served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971. After which he held several jobs including working for his friend George Rodack as a refuse transport operator, before finally settling at the New York State Department of Labor as a Liaison for Veterans where he retired after 24+ years of service.
Joseph loved music, singing, playing his trombone, enjoying his youth filled days while playing with the Vagabond Drum Corp before his time in the Navy after which he then got back into his passion for music playing with a local band named “FLASK” in the mid to late 70’s
Joseph is survived by his wife Bernadette in Poughkeepsie, his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Loretta Rizzo of Lagrange, NY., his stepchildren Keith and Kerri O’Brien of Enfield, CT., Michael and Heather O’Brien of Chicopee, MA., James O’Brien of Chicopee, MA., grandchildren Daniel Mitchell, Faith Rizzo, Aaron Rizzo, Devin O’Brien, Delaney O’Brien, Brendan Wise, Julia Pollano, Zachery Montalvo, Caitlyn O’Brien, Anthony Noel, sister Donna Rizzo, brothers Edward and Robert Rizzo.
Predeceased by his daughter Janine Rizzo-Caskey, his granddaughter Melissa Rizzo, and brother Phillip V. Rizzo.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 25, 2023 from 11am to 2pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral Services will be Held at 130pm during Celebration of Life.
