Obituary of Sandra R. Braungard

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Sandra Rita Braungard, age 85. Born February 6, 1938 in Syracuse, N.Y. Sandra passed on March 28, 2023 in Westerville, Ohio....her home for the past three years. Prior to that Sandra had been living in the Poughkeepsie, NY and Duchess County area, for her 30 year teaching career in the Wappinger Falls district, and her much deserved retirement.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, George and Norma Schnurr Braungard, a brother Stephen, and a nephew Andrew Braungard.
Sandra is survived by sisters Carole Kelsey of East Syracuse, N.Y., and Linda Beucler of Westerville Ohio, brother and SIL, George and Joan Braungard of Carlisle, PA., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sandra was a trailblazer, who decided after nine years of graduating from St Vincent de Paul H.S. in Syracuse, that she would go back to college and get a teaching degree. She received her A.A. from Maria Regina College, Syracuse in 1966, and her B.A. from S.U.N.Y. College of Oswego in 1968. She settled and embraced the Hudson Valley Community. With that she decided she would be laid to rest in Poughkeepsie.
Sandra loved to play golf, read, travel, the arts, especially concerts and musicals. She was generous to all who loved her and to the community.
