Obituary of Carol E. Futyma

Carol E. Futyma, 82, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on July 3, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

She was born in Rhinebeck, NY on November 22, 1940 to the late Edmund and Catherine (Gruntler) Regg.

She received her R.N. Degree in 1961 from the Vassar Brothers School of Nursing. She had a long & fulfilling career as an R.N. at Vassar Brothers Medical Center until she retired in 2000. 

On May 18, 1963, she married the late Leonard T. Futyma at Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie. 

Carol was a member of the Holy Trinity Church Alter Society as well as the Caring Ministry (Food Pantry). 

She loved people; her friends became family. Carol loved her pets and especially her poodle, Holly. 

She enjoyed knitting, gardening, and puzzles. 

Carol is survived by her son, Jeffrey Futyma and his wife, Christine of Poughkeepsie, and her daughter, Karen Bennie and her husband, Sal of Poughkeepsie, NY. 

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jordan Futyma, Christian Futyma, Justin Crandell, and great-granddaughter McKenzie, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers David, Edwin, Ronald, and Frederick Regg and sister Kathleen Barratt. 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 

371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church. 

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Church of the Holy Trinity, Poughkeepsie or The Church of  the Holy Trinity Food Pantry.
