Obituary of Larry Erick Tissiera

Larry Erick Tissiera, 61, was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, New York.  He entered eternal rest on August 2, 2023.  Larry was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.  Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever. 

Larry was born on November 5, 1961, along with his twin brother, Gary Tissiera, to the late Anna Tissiera and Joseph Soares.  He attended Poughkeepsie Schools and he also attended Dutchess County BOCES, where he studied Electronics.  Larry enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family.  He always made the family laugh with his jokes and funny remarks.  He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews who he would always provide nicknames for. Some of the nicknames he provided were Meatball, Bones, Ms. Lilly, Skinny Minnie, Mr. Bubbles, Rif Raf, Taylor Dane, Hairy Face, Vampire, and many others.  They all loved his sense of humor. One niece in particular, Juwanne, who he nick-named “Boop” had a special bond with her “favorite Uncle Larry.”  They would call to check in on each other and share many laughs together. The family will miss his humorous character, and as his brother Mark said, “The world just became a little less funny.”  On his serious side, when it was time for him to go home, he would always say, “Love you Cats.”    

Larry is survived by a son, Pierre Simon of Florida, sisters, Linda Tissiera of Georgia, Karen Hawkins (David) of Poughkeepsie, Lisa Tissiera-Cherry and Lorrie Tissiera of Schenectady, New York, Shahidah (Antoinette) Muhammad of Michigan, Teresa Wright of North Carolina, Wanda Nottingham of Maryland, and Honda Smith of Connecticut. Larry was also predeceased by a sister, Carol Albury. He leaves his brothers, Wayne Anderson, Steven Tissiera (Karen), Gary Tissiera (Thelma), and Donald Soares all of Poughkeepsie, Mark Tissiera (Feleshia) of Florida, and Curtis Knox of Buffalo, New York. He also leaves to cherish, two grandchildren, a special cousin, Sandra Postell and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was also predeceased by his niece, Monique Tissiera. 

Family and friends may join us in the celebration of Larry’s life on Wednesday, August 16^th. Viewing is 10am to 11am, followed by a service from 11am to 12pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York.
