Obituary of Peter T. Argos

Peter T. Argos, 93, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on August 12, 2023. He was born on December 26,
1929, to the late Theodore and the late Marigo (Christakos) Argyropoulos in Sparta, Greece.
Peter has been a resident of Poughkeepsie since 1956 when he emigrated to the United States, after
serving in the Hellenic Army for two years. Peter was the co-owner of the Daily Treat and the Market Place Restaurant, both in Poughkeepsie. After
Peter retired from running his own business, he kept busy by working with friends at the Pleasant Valley Diner for many years.
He was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Order of AHEPA.
Peter loved to read the newspaper daily and follow the stock market, but most important to him was his
family. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Stavroula, daughter and son-in-law Maria Argos and
Nicholas Mader of Chicago, IL, granddaughter Christiana Mader, sister Elaine Dalianis, and several
cousins, nieces, and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his two brothers, Ioannis and Demetris Argyropoulos, and sister Athanasia
Kontos.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral
Home, 371 Hooker Ave. in Poughkeepsie, New York. Funeral Services will take place at 10 am on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox
Church, 140 South Grand Ave. in Poughkeepsie, New York. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church.
