Obituary of Carmelo Pizzuto Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carmelo Pizzuto Sr., 86, of Pleasant
Valley, NY, who left this world on October 17, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center,
surrounded by his family. He was born on January 9, 1937 in Casteldaccia, Palermo, Italy, to the
late Carmelo and Rosalia (Mancuso) Pizzuto. While still in Italy, Carmelo served in the military
and later earned a teaching degree.
Carmelo arrived in the US in November 1963, and married Maria Aiello, also of Casteldaccia, in
December of that same year. He became a tool and die maker in Croton Harmon, where he
worked for over 30 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Carmelo lived a full life,
and enjoyed watching soccer, loved painting landscapes, drawing with charcoal, and above all
loved working in his garden.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Maria Pizzuto of Pleasant Valley, NY, son
Carmelo Pizzuto Jr. of Astoria NY, son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Kimberly Pizzuto of
Lutz, FL, daughter Rosalia Pizzuto Reid of Highland NY, brother Peppino Pizzuto and sister
Christina Clemente, both of Casteldaccia, and sister Graziella Tomasello of Bayonne NJ. He was
a proud grandfather to Isabella Reid, Ava and JoJo Pizzuto.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday October 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM from Holy
Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Interment will take place in St. Pete's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
