My deepest condolences to Rich's family. He will be missed for sure. When I first arrived to C/1/20 (SFG)(A), of course I was placed on the training detachment awaiting orders to go to Ft. Bragg to attend the SFQC. Most of the other ODA "tabbed" guys would almost never talk to the non-tabbed soldiers like myself. Rich was different. I would pass him in the hallway and he would ALWAYS stop and say hello and asked how everything was going. I never forgot that.
We moved from the Poughkeepsie area about a year and half ago. I ran into Rich twice while I lived there and after his training accident; the first time was in Barnes & Noble where Rich was reading, of all things, a book on body-building. I bought him a cup of coffee and shared Army memories for about an hour. The second time was at a Styx concert. My wife and I nabbed a great parking spot so we can be the first out of there as soon as the concert ended. Well we were literally THE LAST TO LEAVE. You see Rich was sitting about 3 rows behind us (unbeknownst to us). Well, we ended up walking Rich to his car in the parking lot which took quite some time due to his condition. Leave it to Rich to go to a Styx concert, by himself, but the extra hour it took to get to his car was filled with laughs and my wife finally got to meet an amazing man. Thanks for the memories brother. RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

Graduated Arlington, then Downstate with Richie. He was a powerful force. And a great leveling human. No one ever felt left out of a convo. I still have mantras he taught me to cope, (of course they’re not fit for public) but he uplifted even from the darkest places. And he knew many. I remember his love of his boys, but man, the day that little girl was born he melted. He was the b@ll b@usting miracle who decided he was going to be the same man after that day that he was before, albeit with some accessibility adjustments, but the same demented humor.
