Liana Andreozzi

Obituary of Liana Andreozzi

Liana Ricci Andreozzi (88), passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023.

She was born on February 13, 1935 in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy.  She was married on December 28, 1959 to Silvano Andreozzi.  They immigrated to America and settled in Poughkeepsie, New York, where they lived together and raised their family for 55 years.

Liana is survived by daughter Patricia and her husband Dave, daughter Cinzia and her husband Vinny, son Gregory and his wife Amy.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rebecca and her wife Kelsey, Christian, Noah, Jenna, Joshua, Vincenzo, and Angelo; her brothers Francesco, Luigi, Giorgio and sister Sandra in Italy and brother and sister-in-law Peter and Lillian in NY.  She is predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Ada, husband Silvano, son David, sister Lina, and baby brother Feliciano.

When we think of our mom, hard worker comes to mind. She worked at Saint Francis Hospital for many years, but often held two or three jobs at a time while caring for her special needs son.  She was not afraid to get her hands dirty (really, she wasn’t afraid of much!), climbing rooftops to hang Christmas lights or tubing down a hill at 70 with her then young grandchildren.  She was a fierce, strong, self-determined woman who believed she could do anything and usually did.  When she wasn’t working you would find her in the kitchen baking and cooking all the family’s favorites, including Nonna’s chocolate chip cookies and pizzas (8-10 pies at a time).  She had a child-like spirit who loved animals and jellybeans and had little bowls stashed everywhere.  She enjoyed pruning and weeding her beautiful flower beds throughout our yard growing up and was the family’s seamstress up until a few months ago.  She had a special heart for the poor and needy and gave generously, never worrying about how little she had because she trusted God would provide in every situation.  Her greatest love was her family, and she was proud of each one of her children and her grandchildren.  She was so grateful to see her children marry beautiful spouses and living the life she had always hoped for them. She was quite a presence and will be missed.

We are celebrating Liana’s life at 10:00 o’clock Mass at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, on Monday, December 18, 2023.  The burial will immediately follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
