Obituary of Michael B. Hackett

Michael B. Hackett, 70, of Highland, NY passed away on January 15, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1953, in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Francis and the late Rita (McGrath) Hackett.

Mike was a resident all of his life. He was a graduate of Ketcham High School and a member of St. Martin dePorres Church.

He was retired from Geodis/IBM of Poughkeepsie as well as past Chief of IBM Emergency Control. He had his own catering company which was known as Michael B’s Catering.

Mike was a founding member of the Dutchess County Hazmat Team. He was a Past Chief and Past Commissioner of the Lagrange Fire District and spent many hours at Station 3, where he was a life member. He was also a member of the Wappingers ELKs and a member of the Lagrange Fire Department Ski team.

Mike was passionate about cooking and caring for the family's horses, dogs and cats. He enjoyed traveling to the casinos and golfing.

He was the husband of Diann Murray, married on June 3, 1990 at St Martin dePorres Church.

Survivors include spouse Diann Hackett Highland, New York, daughter and son in-law Brianne and Ryan Valentino Hudson, New York, daughter and fiancé Megan Hackett and Jose Andrade  Highland, New York, mother in-law Priscilla Murray Lagrange, New York, brother in-laws Edward Murray and Joseph Mangi  Poughkeepsie, New York, sister in-law Jackie Murray and Christopher Foley  Massachusetts.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held January 22, 2024, at 9:30 AM from St. Martin dePorres Church, Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the Family.
