Obituary of Edward L. Mulford

Edward L. Mulford, 82, of LaGrange, passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on March
9, 2024.
Edward was a local resident all of his life. He was a graduate of Wappingers High School and
attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Edward was married to Vera L. Bohlinger on October 6, 1963 at the New Hackensack Reform
Church. Vera survives at home in LaGrange.
Edward worked as a Civil Engineer for the NYS DOT, retiring in 1991. Edward was also a Court
Officer for the Town of LaGrange Courts for over 10 years. Edward was a NYS Defensive
Driver instructor for many years.
During 9/11, Edward worked in New York City for FEMA and NYS Dept of Homeland Security
and Emergency Services.
Edward was a devoted life member of the Lagrange Fire Department, where he held many
positions, most notably those of Fire Commissioner, Assistant Chief, Capt. of the Rescue
Squad, and Safety Officer.
Edward also loved to go camping and fishing with his family and grandchildren in Indian Lake,
NY. He loved family dinners and talking politics, eating his peeps, reading Sci-Fi fantasy novels,
sitting in the sun, and driving his big RED Ford F-150.
Edward is survived by his wife Vera, his daughters and their husbands Tracey and Edward
Jaehnert of Poughkeepsie, NY, Dawn and Michael Macak of Poughkeepsie, NY, grandchildren
Jacqueline Tomas (Ryan), Andrew Jaehnert, Carissa Jaehnert, Brianne Valentino (Ryan),
Megan Hackett (fiancé Jose), brother-in-law James Rhynders (“The Old Man”), sister-in-law Sue
Mulford, and several nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his parents Edward L. and Margaret Mulford, sister Esther
Rhynders, and brothers William and Kenneth Mulford.
A Celebration of Edward’s life will be held on March 16, 2024 from 10am to 1pm at the Timothy
P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
