Obituary of Larry Dickinson
It is with a heavy heart that the family of A. Lawrence "Larry" Dickinson announce the passing of their heart and soul after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side. Larry is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Barbara, his three children Scott (Janine) Dickinson, Lori (Jeff) Ferguson and Chrissy (Mike) Mastriani, and those who gave him his favorite title of all, Papa, Andrew, Mackenzie, Jeremy, Tessie, Sam and Ben. Larry was predeceased by his beloved parents, Arnold and Ruth Dickinson.
Larry started his career in 1960 at IBM where he worked for 30+ years and retired as a 3rd Line Project Manager. Upon his retirement, he was able to focus on his avid love of baseball, golf and UCONN Women's basketball.
His love of the ocean always remained in his heart, where he spent many summers fishing, clamming and crabbing along the coast of New England.
He was known by all for his quick wit, dry sense of humor and his insatiable thirst for knowledge.
Larry always put others before himself. He was a generous, loving and supportive man and we feel extremely blessed to have had him in our lives.
We would like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff of Vassar Brothers Hospital, Hudson Valley Hospice and his favorite LPN/"partner in crime", Asha Nooks.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 14th from 5pm-8pm and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 15th at 10am at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, New York, 12603. His final resting place will be at St. Peter's Cemetery on Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
Donations can be made to the American Heart Association and Hudson Valley Hospice
