Obituary of John H Faubion

John Harry Faubion, affectionally known as Johnny in his final years, passed away surrounded by love and his family, on March 29, 2024 at home in Poughkeepsie, NY, after a long journey of navigating Alzheimer’s disease. John is survived by his 3 children:  Andrea (Brian) Reilly of Lagrange, Eric (Christine) Faubion of Howard Beach, and Anthony (Paulina) Faubion of Ozone Park. He was a proud Papa of his grandchildren: Alexis Faubion, Ryan, Jack and Owen Reilly, Brandon Faubion and his bonus granddaughter, Isabella Leach. He was the cherished great grandfather of: Juliana, Ayden, Layla and Makayla.  John was predeceased by his wife, Maureen.

Johnny was born in New York, NY on December 22, 1941 to Eugene and Agnes Faubion where he resided until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served faithfully from 1959 to 1963. He wed Maureen on June 6, 1971 and celebrated 50 years of marriage before her death in 2021. They raised their family in Richmond Hill, Queens and lived there for 40 years. John worked as a supervisor for the New York City Transit Authority until his retirement in 1991. He was involved in the NYC Transit Emerald Society (eventually becoming President), Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. His retirement was spent taking trips to Amish Country, PA often, feeding the birds, listening to Doo Wop, enjoying a good cup of coffee or a pint of Guinness, getting his fill of Cherry Garcia ice cream and happily moving to the “country”-Dutchess County-in 2018 where he resided until his death.

John was known for being very proud of his service to his county, the love for his family, his kind soul as well as his stubbornness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the staff at the Manor at Woodside, Hudson Valley Hospice, and all of Johnny’s aides, all of whom took such special care of him in his final years.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY, 12603. Funeral Service will be held follolwing Visitation
