Obituary of Joyce Dodd

Joyce M. Dodd (92) passed away peacefully at home on May16th 2024 with her devoted cat Randy by her side. Born in Poughkeepsie on January 11th 1932 she was the daughter of Stanley and Hazel Moore, both passed away when she was just 1 year old. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Bertrum and Pearl Baker along with her brother Russel Moore.   She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert Dodd, her sons John and Wayne Morris, and her brother, Russel Moore. Joyce leaves behind her cat Randy, her nephew Glenn (Alicia) Moore and cousins Jodie (Sawyer and Emma) Bryson, Casey and Alexis Aguiar.   Joyce graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and shortly thereafter secured a position with the phone company in Poughkeepsie. She moved to Florida where her sons were born but after her divorce, she moved back to Flushing and went back to work at the phone company for over 30 years as a clerk before retiring. She met her husband Robert Dodd in Flushing and remarried. Joyce enjoyed reading about the movie stars and could tell you everything you needed to know. She loved watching her soap opera’s and everything cat-related. Joyce was happy going for rides in the car, particularly around the countryside, new housing developments and the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery; she was in awe of how beautiful the grounds were.    Visiting hours will be at the Timothy Doyle  Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Tuesday, May 21st from 11-1 pm with  Burial immediately following at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery If you would like to donate in Joyce Dodd’s name in lue of flowers we suggest either The Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery or Hudson Valley Hospices Dutchess
