Obituary of Nancy J. Burger

Nancy J. Burger 90 of Poughkeepsie passed away at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 25, 2024.
Nancy was born in Binghamton NY on April 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Kenneth and the late Charlotte Staples Ashman.
Nancy graduated from Union-Endicott High School, Vassar College with a Bachelor of Arts and Long Island University, C.W. Post Division with a Master of Science.
Nancy taught Elementary School in the Spackenkill School District from 1972 to 1993.
Nancy was a member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church, Spackenkill Retired Teachers Association, and New York State United Teachers.
She was a member of the first Computer Committee in Spackenkill, set up the first computer lab in the Nassau School, and trained and scheduled the volunteer parents who came in to help the kids. She was Co-chair of the Seniors Group at New Hackensack Reformed Church for the last
10 years, Volunteer, co-leader of the Seniors Strength & Balance Exercise Class at NHRC sponsored by the DC Office of the Aging.
Nancy loved to do jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, making greeting cards and posters on the computer.
Nancy is survived by her children Shelley and her husband Richard of New Paltz, Jeffrey and his wife June of Poughkeepsie, James and his wife Carolyn of Hyde Park, Thomas of Mayfield, even grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, brother Bob and his wife Joan Ashman of
Bridgeville, DE, five nieces, 1 nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at the New Hackensack Reform Church on June 15, 2024, at 11 am. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made in Nancy's name to the Spackenkill Teachers Association Scholarship Fund 15 Croft Road Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, or to the New Hackensack Reform Church Rt 376 Wappingers NY 12590
