Obituary of Oscar Mejia

Oscar Mejia, a beloved husband, father, and cherished community member, passed away on June 18, 2024. Born on April 4, 1982, in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico to Germen and Reyna Mejia Valasquez, Oscar was a graduate from Poughkeepsie High School Class of 2002. On January 7, 2022, he married Maria de las Nieves Lopez Lorenzo, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond. Oscar was a passionate sports fan, particularly of the New York Knicks, Yankees, and Giants. He found joy in spending time with his family, dancing at gatherings, and making people laugh with his playful humor. As a doting father to his daughter Alazne, Oscar’s love and warmth brightened the lives of all who knew him. In his leisure time, Oscar enjoyed leisurely walks with his mother, creating cherished memories together. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Doyle Funeral Home located at 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Mass in honor of Oscar’s life will occur on July 2, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Oscar Mejia will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His light and laughter will remain in our hearts forever
