Barbara Louthan

Obituary of Barbara M. Louthan

Barbara Lynn died on Saturday, June 29, 2024. She was born in Chicago,
Illinois, on December 10, 1946, the first child of Francine Polainer and
Anton Mankus. She was later joined by a brother, Terrance Anton, and
then a sister, Margo Lynn, both of whom she admired and loved dearly.
Barbara Lynn and Philip David Louthan were joined in marriage on June
30, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois. Barbara Lynn was educated by both the
Sisters of Saint Francis of Christ the King and the Sisters of Charity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary before attending Illinois Institute of Technology where
she earned a degree in Mathematics. Her professional activities included
sales, consulting, and education in several industries; her career began in
Chicago, took her to South Florida, and then to various locations in the
Hudson Valley in New York. Barbara Lynn was predeceased by her
parents and her husband; she is survived by her siblings, Terrance Anton
and Margo Lynn (Frank Wattenberg), an uncle, cousins, in-laws and their
growing families. Barbara Lynn was most grateful for the blessing of
knowing she is a daughter of the Almighty, finding joy in all His creation and
in prayer, worship, and service to others. Among her final wishes, Barbara
Lynn wanted to make known her deep gratitude to her four grandparents
(Anna and Anton Mankus and Gertrude and John Polainer) for their
courage in leaving their homelands and migrating to the United States, to
her family for their unstinting love and support and, especially, to her dad,
“Tony,” and to her uncles, Louis and John, for their courageous service in
World War II, service that allowed her the precious blessings of peace,
freedom, and security as a citizen of the United States of America. Barbara
Lynn was also grateful to her many friends who shared their lives with her
and enriched her life in so many ways. Finally, she wanted to publicly
thank her Heavenly Father for her turn on earth. There will be no wake;
funeral rites in New York and burial will be private and at the convenience
of the family. Local arrangements are entrusted to Timothy P. Doyle
Funeral Home.
