Obituary of Edith A. Kokkinis

Edith Anna Kokkinis, 89, of LaGrange passed away on August 13, 2024, at MSK in Manhattan.

Edith was born on August 20, 1934, in Berlin, Germany to the late Kurt and Anna (Bonnet) Grosse.

Edith came to the U.S. in 1954. On December 11, 1963, she married George Kokkinis, who predeceased her on September 6, 2005.

She owned a hair salon for 17 years, and worked for IBM, retiring in 1996.

Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and always cared for everyone in a special way. She loved rescuing dogs and was a true animal lover.

Edith is survived by her son, Thomas Kokkinis of LaGrange, her daughter and son -in-law Anna Maria and Angelo Gerasimou, of Bayside, Queens and her grandchildren Michael and Staci Gersaimou of Bayside, Queens. Her brother, Heinz Grosse, predeceased her in 2020.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 1pm at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church 140 S. Grand Ave, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie N.Y.
