Obituary of Joan M Porter

Poughkeepsie - Joan M. Porter, a long time resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest with family by her side on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital (St. Francis Hospital) in Poughkeepsie, NY. 

Daughter of the late Ralph and Dolores Porter, Joan was born on November 26, 1939 at Vassar Hospital. Predeceased by her son, Brian Porter, her parents, her siblings, Patricia Barton, Ralph "Sonny" Porter and Dorothy Meisner and her grand-child Brian Wheeler and her best friends, Audrey DeHart and Patricia O’Connor. Joan was the youngest of her siblings. Joan is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Brady; her grandsons, Rocky Porter, Brandon Porter and Jason Tabor; her niece Gale Toledo, her many great-nieces and nephews including Kevan Barton, Rayna Torres, Brice Derello and many other nieces and nephews as well as her great grand-children Kayden Cestaro, Alasia Porter, Brileiye Porter, Emree Porter, and Marissa Tabor.

Funny, witty and one to enjoy a good laugh, Joan always “showed up” and loved spending time with her family and friends and catching up on her Facebook news. She especially enjoyed puzzles, word searches and spending time with her family of friends in her sewing circle. While she spent many of her last moments in and out of the hospital, she never lost her spirit and will. Joan was loved and will be missed by so many.

At Joan’s request, family will receive friends who wish to pay their respects at a small outdoor service on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:30am at Morgan Lake located at 31 Creek Road in Poughkeepsie, NY
