Obituary of Virginia J Diesing
Virginia J. Diesing, 88, affectionately known as Ginny, passed away peacefully at home on
August 26, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 6, 1936, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to
Fred Melito and Elizabeth (Bitzko) Melito.
Ginny was a devout member of Sacred Heart Church in Esopus, NY, and St. Mary's Church in
Poughkeepsie, NY, where she sang in the choir and was known for her deep faith and
commitment to the Blessed Mother. Ginny dedicated 15 years of service to Mount St.
Alphonsus, a Catholic Retreat Center in Esopus, NY, where she formed many lasting
relationships.
An avid knitter, Ginny lovingly crafted scarves every Christmas for her family and friends, a
tradition cherished by all who received them. She also had a profound love for music from the
1930s and 1940s, often enjoying these tunes while watching hummingbirds in her garden, a
source of great joy in her later years.
Ginny is survived by her son, Darren Diesing, her daughters, Doreen Lammers, Donna Janson,
Darlene Hard, and Debra Diesing, and their spouses, Brent Lammers, Davison Moore, Don Hard
and Robert Genest. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Weisz, and brother, Fred Melito, her
seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, David Diesing, Sr., her son, David
Diesing, Jr. and her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Melito.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Timothy P. Doyle
Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday,
September 7, at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary's Church, 231 Church St., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will
follow at Calvary Cemetery, 62 LaGrange Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

Hospice in memory of Virginia. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the angels at
Hudson Valley Hospice who cared for their Mother like she was family.
