Obituary of Fernanda Datoc

Fernanda C. Datoc, 96 , of Poughkeepsie, NY (previously fromNew York City) passed  away at home on September 11, 2024 after a short illness.

Fernanda was born on December 11, 1927, to Alberto Datoc and Rosario Cabanos Datoc in the Philippine Islands. She studied nursing, emigrated to the United States, received her master’s degree and worked as a surgical nurse and head nurse in New York City hospitals including Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

As a devout Catholic, she loved attending Pilgrimages all over the world. She loved to travel, enjoyed the theatre and cherished spending time with family, especially with her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Fernanda was predeceased by her sisters Leonore Ramos and Teodora Datoc. She is survived by her sisters, Salud C. Datoc of Quezon City, Philippines and Josephine D. Santos of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Visitation will be held at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 on Saturday September 21, 2024, from 8:30am to 9:30am .

Her funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie immediately after at 10am and Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, her nieces, Marie P. Alvarez and Rosie S. Giammatteo request donations be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 in her honor and memory.
