Obituary of David Bennett

David T. Bennett age 75, passed away on August 23, 2024.

Dave was raised and educated in Beacon, New York.

Upon graduating from high school, Dave enrolled in SUNY Brockport. He graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Putting his education to good use, Dave joined the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department in April of 1974. Dave rose through the ranks and became Lieutenant.

He was a familiar face at the Hellenic Center's Greek Fest as well as many presentations sponsored by the Vassar Institude.

He retired in March of 2011 ending a 37-year career with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting. As a life member of Sleepy Hollow Rod and Gun Club you could catch him on the firring range honing his skills.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother John.

A graveside service will be held 10:30am on Tuesday September 24, 2024, at St. Joachim Cemetery Beacon, NY.
