Obituary of Catherine A Slater

Catherine Slater, 93, of Pleasant Valley, peacefully passed away on September 23, 2024. Born to Ralph and Marion (Bates) DeAngelis on June 21, 1931, Catherine has been a resident of the area her whole life, graduating in 1949 from Poughkeepsie Highschool.

She was the secretary at Wigsten’s Highline Farm Inc. for over 17 years.

Catherine’s first husband, George S. Catrone, passed away in 1981. She remarried on October 10, 1985 to Byron G. Slater who predeceased her.

Catherine is survived by her daughter Mary Catrone, and son George J. Catrone.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by George S. Catrone Jr,  Ralph  Jr, Charles, Phillip, Arthur, and Marie.

Catherine’s family would like to thank Hospice for all their love and care the past 6 years, and to all the caregivers past and present for all their care. A special thanks to Lorraine Sorrentino who was her angel and friend.

A grave side service for Catherine will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10am at St. Peters Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hudson Valley Hospice in memory of Catherine.
