Obituary of George A. Loussedes

George Anthony Loussedes, 62, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born in Poughkeepsie, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony George and Ida Mae Loussedes. George’s life was marked by his love for family, food, and helping others.

George was an exceptional cook, always preparing meals that could feed far more than were expected. He had a passion for gardening, often growing so much produce that he’d put his latest harvest out on a table by the road for anyone to take.

Always generous with his time, George was ready to lend a hand with any project, big or small. He amassed a large collection of tools that could take on any job. When he was younger, he was an avid scuba diver and scuba instructor, pilot and fisherman. George had a wild sense of humor, and he loved holding out just long enough to make you think he was being serious before flashing a grin and letting you off the hook.

His career took him down many paths. He worked as a chef at IBM, owned a deli, and eventually started his own business designing and installing kitchens and bathrooms for hundreds of clients across the Hudson Valley.

Above all, George was immensely proud of his two daughters, Megan and Alexis. Whether he was clipping newspaper articles about Alexis’ latest soccer game or sending Meggie recipes for a new delicious dessert, his children were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his children, Megan (Jason) Laz, Alexis (Derek Merz) Loussedes, his grandson, Owen Laz, his brother Paul (Kelly) Loussedes and sister Mary Ellen (Mitch) Greenberg, five nieces and nephews and many other loving relatives.

Friends and relatives may call on Friday, October 18 from 11am-1pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A private burial will follow.
