Obituary of Robert Joseph Viola
Robert Joseph Viola 80 passed away on Friday January 10, 2025.
Robert was Born in the Bronx, he was the son of Albert and Mary Rizzo Viola.
Robert was a graduate of Harrison High School class of 1962.
Robert went on to serve his Country in the United States Marine Corp 2nd Division from 1965 to 1969. Robert while in the Marine Corp from 1967 to 1968 was assigned to the USS Boston Cag 1 Heavy Missile Cruiser in the Tonkin Gulf in Vietnam.
On August 28, 1966 in Mamaroneck NY, married Phyllis Ricozzi.
Robert worked for 42 years with the UA Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 21 Peekskill, NY. He also worked for 8 years for Wackenhut at Indian Point and worked for the Wappinger Recycle Center part time.
Robert was a lifetime member of the Beacon/ Wappingers ELKS Lodge 1493, a life time member of the VFW Post 3282 Port Orange Florida and a life time member of Port Orange Fraternal Oeder of Eagle Post 3282.
Robert was a avid Yankees and Giants Fan. He loved to play golf his favorite pastime in Florida and New York with is special buddies. He also enjoyed vacationing and cruising with family and friends. Robert was a fun loving guy always smiling and loved life to its fullest.
Robert is survived by his wife Phyllis, his son and daughter in-law Robert J. and Maureen Viola Jr., daughter Audra Jean Viola, grandchildren Morgan and Christian Viola, brothers Peter P. Viola (Yue Xiang), Ronald (Emily) Viola, sister in-laws Jeanne Marcone, Angela(David) Pennucci, Maryann Viola, several nieces and nephews and also his great golf buddies and many special friends and neighbors.
Robert was predeceased by his brother Herbert Viola.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Tuesday January 14th at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Wednesday January 15th at St. Columba Church 835 NY-82 Hopewell Jct, NY 12533. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Denis Cemetery 604 Beekman Hopewell Jct NY.
