Obituary of Ronald Beck
Ronald F. Beck, age 76, of the town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Wednesday, February 9, 2011 surrounded by the love of his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ron was the eldest son of Ronald W. Beck and Marcia VanWagner Beck born on February 6, 1935.
On July 18, 1959 at the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, Ron married Marilyn Estes, his high school sweetheart. Together they raised 2 sons and 1 daughter.
Ron is survived by his son, Kevin W. Beck and his wife Margaret of Milton, NY. Son, Brian and his wife Geri of Kaplan, Louisiana and Sharon Warman and husband John of Poughkeepsie.
He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, his pride and joy; Christina Beck-Gonzales of LA, Kevin Beck, Jr., and his wife Nicole of Milton, NY, Sarah Beck of Milton, NY, Michael and Steven Beck of Milton, Justin Beck of Lawrenceville, GA, Libby, Patrick and Daniel Warman of Poughkeepsie.
He is also survived by two brothers, Clifton and Bruce Beck of Poughkeepsie, his mother-in-law Dorothy Estes and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Marcia Beck and his father-in-law Robert Estes.
Ron graduated from Arlington High School, class of 1954. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1957 ? 1959 and active and inactive reserve for 4 more years.
Ron was an IBM employee for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He worked in Safety Engineering and later managed the Fire & Emergency Control Department at the Poughkeepsie site. In retirement he worked as a Central Hudson flagger and he loved that camaraderie.
Ron's interests were always about family, youth activities, sports and hunting and camping. He was Cub Master for Pack 100, Scoutmaster for Troop 50, Little League Coach and Babe Ruth League Coach. With his Scout troop he did 8 fifty mile canoe trips in the Adirondacks.
Ron also served on Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4-H Advisory Committee, President and Groundskeeper for Crum Elbow Cemetery, St. Simeon Board of Directors, Industrial Safety Advisor to Dutchess County BOCES for 21 years, IBM Quarter Century Club and several terms as Elder and Deacon at Poughkeepsie Reformed Church.
Special thanks to Dr. Maresca at the Dyson Center and nurses Carol, Laurie and Emma for special and compassionate care. Dr. Weinrich and the coumadin staff at the Heart Center, Dr. Jayesh Modi and Wound Care nurses Cindy and Dawn. The Hospice team has brought great comfort to Ron and appreciated by the Family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 4 ? 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
The Funeral will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00am at the New Hackensack Reformed Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience
