Obituary of Douglas Brush
Douglas P. Brush, 81, passed away on Nov. 6, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Cleveland, OH on March 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Fred W. Brush and Doris Sapson. Doug was a resident of the Hudson Valley since 1980 and previously lived in New York City, Westchester and the Cleveland area. A long-time public relations executive in major New York agencies, he was the co-founder of D/J Brush Associates with his wife, Judith M. Brush and a retired adjunct professor in communications at Marist College. He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and a retired Lt. Commander of the U.S. Naval Reserve. In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by son Douglas A. Brush and his wife Cassidy Schulz Brush and daughter Meredith Blair and partner Larry Turk all of New York City; daughters Stephanie Brush of Prague, Czech Republic; Jennifer of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren Lucy Ava Brush and Alexander Laurence Blair-Turk, both of New York City. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
