Obituary of Dolores Moshier

Dolores I. Moshier, 83, a Poughkeepsie resident, passed away with family by her side on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. Dolores was born in Poughkeepsie on December 15, 1928 to Francis Kozak and Gladys Scott. On January 23, 1959, Dolores married Howard Jr. Moshier of Newburgh who predeceased her in October 1980. Dolores was employed by the Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie early in her life. It was there where she developed her enjoyment of the arts. She loved the NYC Ballet and Broadway shows. Dolores also worked for Central Hudson and was last employed as a secretary for Arlington Central School District where she worked at Arthur S. May School for 37 years until her retirement in January 2007. Dolores loved watching her children's and grandchildren's activities. She was an avid supporter of soccer, softball, swimming, ballet, dance, horseback riding and an integral part of the Holy Trinity Swim Team for 10 years. She was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Dolores grew up in a modest time where hard work reaped benefits. Her family has much gratitude for her sacrifices that allowed them to have many opportunities that she didn't have growing up. Dolores was very charitable supporting many non-profits nationally and locally. Until recently, she was an active member of Holy Trinity Church. Dolores is survived by her loving children, Howard F. Moshier and his fiancé, Dena Konopasek of West Chester, OH; Dawn Isaacson and her husband, Henry of Poughkeepsie; Deborah Moshier-Dunn and her husband, Michael Dunn of Waterford, CT; family members Terry Moshier and Lisa Moshier; and her four granddaughters who were her pride and joy, Anne Revie Moshier, professional photographer of Glen St. Mary, FL; Erica Dawn Johnson, veterinary student Baton Rouge, LA; Victoria Ann Isaacson of Poughkeepsie and Michaela Ann Dunn of Waterford, CT. The family would like to thank St. Francis Hospital staff and physicians, especially staff on 6 Cooke, Dr. Essam Jacob and Dr. Daniella Stokes for their compassionate care of Dolores. Visitation will be Friday, March 16, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie NY. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 9:30am at Holy Trinity Church, Main St., Poughkeepsie followed by internment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward.
