Obituary of Linda Tyler

Linda Mary (Lowery) Tyler, of Pleasant Valley, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family members at Vassar Brother's Hospital on Friday August 16th at the age of 63. A lifelong resident of Dutchess County, Linda was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on March 31, 1950. She is the daughter of Mary Roberta (Wallin) Lowery and the late Michael J. Lowery, Jr. Linda is survived by her loving husband Norman Tyler of 41 years. They were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie, NY on November 6, 1971. In addition to her husband she is survived by her twin sons: Andrew John Tyler of Longmont, CO and Patrick 'Ricky" Michael Tyler and his wife, Crystal of Southington, CT; her mother, Mary Roberta (Wallin) Lowery, of Poughkeepsie, NY; four sisters: Mary Foglietta and her husband, Joseph of Poughkeepsie, NY; Michele Hutton and her husband, Richard of Manassas, VA; Alice Lowe and her husband, David of Wappingers Falls, NY; and Patricia Dolfinger and her husband, James of Staatsburg, NY; two brothers: Michael W. Lowery of Poughkeepsie, NY; and Joseph P. Lowery and his wife, Denise of Red Hook, NY; 15 nieces and nephews ; 9 great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; as well as her beloved dog, Shania. Linda graduated from Arlington High School in 1968 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree and master's degree in education from SUNY New Paltz. Linda was employed as a reading teacher in the Arlington Central School District for almost thirty years before retiring in January 2011. Linda has always been a devoted, dedicated and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and educator who was an avid animal lover and enjoyed traveling, skiing, movies, Broadway plays, and most of all, the time spent with her family and friends. Although her life ended much too soon, she lived every day to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew, loved, and laughed with her. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
