Obituary of Brenda McKinnon

Brenda Joyce Gray McKinnon, 55, of Poughkeepsie, NY died, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1958, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of Ollie and Lucy Jones Gray, Jr. Brenda was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, 1977, and a graduate of Dutchess Community College, 1993, with a degree in nursing. She married Gerald L. McKinnon in Poughkeepsie on January 8, 1979 and he survives her. Brenda worked as a registered nurse for Hudson River Psychiatric Center, retiring in 2001. She loved to bowl, fishing, music, video games and was into computer technology. She loved her grandchildren and family, as well as her nieces and nephews, and treated them as her own. In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by her son, Antione McKinnon of Poughkeepsie, her daughter and son-in-law Aiyana J. and Jerimiah Daley of Yonkers, NY, daughter Rashina E. McKinnon, Poughkeepsie, daughter, Shikeea I. McKinnon of Poughkeepsie and her daughter Rosemary Fakhoury of Poughkeepsie. Also surviving are her 18 grandchildren, as well as her sister and brother-in-law Jaqulyn and Gary McCray of Spring Hill, FL, brother and sister-in-law Pastor Ollie and Cindy Gray, III of Waterbury, CT, her sister-in-law Lisa Gray of Poughkeepsie and her brother Ricky Gray of Alabama. Brenda was predeceased by a granddaughter Lucea A. Elmendorf, her brother Deacon Landon Gray, sister Deborah Clayton and brother Willis Gray. Calling hours will be held on July 25, 2014 from 10am to 11am. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00am at the Beulah Baptist Church and burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
