Obituary of MARIE DYKEMAN

Marie L. Dykeman 88 of Poughkeepsie, New York died at home on Saturday October 18, 2014. Born at United Hospital in Port Chester, New York on July 10, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Marie E. Addor and the late James E. Quinn. Marie was a graduate of Bellows High School in Mamaroneck, NY. Marie worked at IBM for 25 years in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Kingston retiring in 1986. On August 2, 1969 in Highland, New York she married Robert H. Dykeman Sr., he predeceased her on August 10, 1987. Marie was an active member of Club 60 and worked as their craft director and knitting instructor for over 20 years retiring in 2012. She was a member of St. Martin dePorres Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and worked with the seniors of the parish to make prayer schalls, was a member for over 20 years with the IBM MHV Quarter Century social club holding several positions including VP for the Poughkeepsie Club. Marie was also a member of the IBM Bowling League and the Lady Bird League in Wappingers Falls. Marie was an active member of the NY Home Bureau Association New Hackensack Chapter and she volunteered around Dutchess County, baby sitting at the JCC, volunteered at the Dutchess County Tourism, was involved with the American Heart Association and escorted bus trips for Valley Voyagers. Marie is survived by her three daughters; Joan Hickey Thompson of Southport NC, Patricia Hickey Cramer of Poughkeepsie, NY, Catherine Hickey Clark of Hague, NY; step-children Connie and Donald Dykeman Cornell of Pawling, NY and Robert H. and Suzzanne Beth Dykeman of Wappingers Falls, NY. Marie is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Michael A. Thompson and his wife Julie, Christina M. Manipole and her husband Louis, Sara M. Cook and her husband Ben, Amanda M. Schenk, Jennifer Clark and her husband Chris O'Hara, Katie Ross and her husband Joey, Tyler Dykeman and his wife Lauren, Tanya Dykeman, Robert Dykeman III, Andrew Cornell and his wife Beth; 15 great grandchildren Makayla, Nathan, Sophia, Audrey, Ella, Ginger, Michael, Dylan, Gracie, Kaden, Lathan, Tye, Alexis, Libby, Gillian and 2 nephews, a niece and several cousins. Marie was predeceased by her husband Robert H. Dykeman Sr., son in-law Bruce F. Clark, brother James E. Quinn and sister in-law Myrtle Quinn. Visitation will be held on Friday October 24, 2014 from 3pm to 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A funeral Mass will be held 9:30am Saturday October 25, 2014 at St. Martin dePorres Church Poughkeepsie with burial to follow at Mill Town Cemetery Brewster NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Marie's name can be made to The American Heart Association 305 Manchester Road Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
