Please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and my family. I first met your wife and mother after having driven through New York City in the middle of the night during a torrential downpour, along with several others, including Alana. She was an oasis of peace in an otherwise chaotic situation. Having lost my own mother some years ago, I appreciate the sense of loss under any circumstance. My heart goes out to all of you, and my prayers, as well.

I never had the pleasure to meet Mrs Ahmed, though I feel I know her through her daughter, Candy. Candy has so many wonderful qualities: gentleness, creativity, wisdom, patience and foresight. She is so supportive, kind and open-hearted. It is easy to imagine that Candy learned those by example from her Mom, because genuine grace of that quality is not something that is accidental and it can't be faked. Mrs. Ahmed, I'm sure, left us all with something - even those who never had the pleasure to meet her.
