Obituary of Robert Mikus
Robert John Mikus, age 89, of Wappingers Falls, New York shuffled off this mortal coil on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Stratton VA Hospital in Albany, NY. Robert was born May 15, 1925 in Scarsdale, NY. He was the son of the Alexander and Ethel Mikus.
He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed by Vassar College as a Stationary Engineer and after retiring from Vassar College, Robert went to work as a volunteer for the National Park Service at the FDR Museum in Hyde Park.
Robert was a lifetime member of VFW Post 190, the American Legion Post 1302, the Combat Infantryman's Association, and a lifetime member of the DAV.
Robert is survived by his son and daughter In-law, David and Tina Mikus of Clinton, CT; son and daughter In-law, Todd and Lori Mikus of Wappingers Falls, NY; daughter and son In-law, Kyra and Chris Sheehan of Canton, CT; grandchildren Michael, Matthew and David Mikus, Sarah Trichardt, Emma and Erica Sheehan, sister Irene Mikus of Lagrangeville, NY and brother Jimmy Mikus of FL. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Alexander, Kenneth and Charles Mikus.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 3 from 4pm to 7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
The memorial service will be at held 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY with Robert Hargraves officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the DAV.
