Obituary of Marie Anderson

Marie E. Walther Anderson, age 82, of Wappingers, died Monday, March 16, 2015 at home with her family. Marie was born August 21, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is the daughter of the late Francis and the late Lilly (Rosengren) Walther. She married James F. Anderson on April 15, 1961 at Regina Coeli Hyde Park. She was a retired employee of Vassar Brothers Medical Center where she was a Pediatric Nurse. Marie was a graduate of Vassar Brothers School of Nursing Class of 1953, and was the President of the VBH Nurses Alumni til 2014. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Daffodil Drive and Meals on Wheels, she was a 4H Leader and Brownie Leader. Marie was a local resident all her life, she was a member of St. Martin DePorres Church and she was an avid reader and loved to play golf and travel. A sports fan, she could often be seen at her grandchildrens sporting events. Marie is survived by her husband: James F.Anderson of Wappingers; her daughter: Margaret M. Anderson and her companion Arthur Wenderoth of Beacon, NY; son and daughter In-law, Christopher C. and Susan Anderson of Silver Spring, MD; daughter and son In-law, Theresa and James Conte of Clintondale, NY.; grandchildren Carol Anderson, Gail Anderson, James Conte, Daniel Conte, Jennifer Conte and her sister Eileen Fraleigh of Glastonbury CT. She is also survived by her brother in-law David Anderson and his wife Linda of Wappingers, sisters in-law Alice Anderson of Wappingers, Barbara Anderson of Hopewell and Elaine Anderson of Connecticut and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:15 am on Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Martin DePorres Church, Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York. Memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society or Meals on Wheels of Wappingers Falls.
