Obituary of Robert B. Keener

Robert "Rob" Keener formerly of Poughkeepsie. Saturday March 11, 2017, Rob Keener (35) passed away unexpectedly at his home in Syossett, NY. Rob was the son of Bob and Pat (Whalen) Keener who survive in Poughkeepsie. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School where he excelled on their baseball and basketball teams. Rob went on to graduate from Quinnipiac University where he met his future wife, Stacy Spivack. Rob cherished his high school and college friends and maintained close contact until his death. On June 6, 2009, Rob & Stacy married. Together they had two beautiful sons, Cameron and Jackson. Stacy and "the Boys" survive at home in Syossett. Rob was many things, but most of all, an amazing father, renowned for his videos and animated stories of his sons. He loved his family deeply. Rob is further survived by his sisters, Tara Keener (Boston) and Kristen Keener Barstow (Paul) (Groton, Ma.), his in-laws, Steve and Linda Spivack his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marc & Joanna Spivack and several nieces and nephews. Words cannot express the profound sense of loss by the family. Calling hours will be held Monday March 20, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday March 21, 2017 10am at Holy Trinity Church 775 Main Street Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes High School, 131 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 in Rob's memory to provide financial assistance for any student wishing to attend "OLL".
