Obituary of Walter C. Nowik

Walter C. Nowik 89 of the Town of Poughkeepsie passed away at home on Tuesday August 22, 2017.

Walter was born in Scranton, PA on May 3, 1928. He was the son of the late Adam and the late Adella Nowik. Walter was married to Gladys Marie Graham she predeceased him in 1980.

Walter was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and served in the National Guard.  Walter was a retired employee of IBM, where he worked for over 42 years.

Walter loved to hunt and fish and he was also a member of the Poughkeepsie ELKS Club BPOE #275 and the Dutchess County Sportsmen Association.

Walter is survived by his children; Dennis Nowik and his wife Mavis of Cummings, Georgia, Sue Roberts of Fairbanks, Alaska., and Karen Simon and her husband Wayne of Poughkeepsie, New York. Walter is also survived by his four grandchildren; Tim Roberts of Hopewell, Patrick Simon and his wife Corri of Poughkeepsie, Michael Simon and his wife Megan and Collin Roberts and his wife Amber of Alaska, his 8 great grandchildren and two sister in-laws Betty and Emma Nowik.

Walter is predeceased by his 10 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Monday August 28, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Funeral Service will be held following the calling hours at 12pm. Burial will be at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York.
