Jeff, holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He began his IBM career in 1979 as a Hardware Engineer developing and designing System z hardware servers. By 2001, Jeff’s contributions had earned him the prestigious promotion to Senior Technical Staff Member. During his 38 year employment with IBM, Jeff has been an expert in both hardware and software analysis and design. Creative and an outstanding communicator, mentor and team player Jeff attained a Level 5 Patent Plateau, as an inventor of technical Intellectual Property materials. Jeff was a technical leader and role model to all who knew and worked with him.
Jeff loved his family and friends. An expert in many things, he also had great fun tinkering with or making jigs to fix many things for himself and others. He enjoyed ham radio, flying a small plane, exploring, reading, sailing, biking, hiking, designing and creating on a 3 D printer, maker faires, welding, kite flying, swimming and was always learning and sharing. Jeff was a coach for the first 2 seasons of IBM's FIRST Lego League, mentoring students to achieve the prestigious Teamwork award.
I know he meant so much to many of you and he loved each of those of you whom he knew with a personal connection and a gentle heart. Always concerned for others above himself, and willing to fix something or explain something, or discuss something, or develop something, my prayerful, devoted friend was faithful and true, dearly loved and the best husband, father and grandpa and friend ever.
Words cannot express how much we miss him. He was brilliant, kind, humble, resourceful, creative, wise, witty, devoted, adventurous, and strong in so many ways. The shock of loosing him is enormous. But the knowledge of His relationship with Christ gives us great comfort, knowing he is rejoicing, and is well and with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and that we will see him again, in Christ.
In lieu of flowers, we welcome donations in his memory to the American Heart Association http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG
