Obituary of Edith F. "Dee" Pellegrini-Hansen

Edith F. " Dee " Pellegrini-Hansen 82 of Poughkeepsie died peacefully in her sleep Thursday July 26, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Mount Vernon on May 16, 1936 she was the daughter of Wilfred and Rose Dwulit Roberts. Dee was a graduate of schools in Mount Vernon and she also graduated from Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was a 40 year local resident of Duchess County.

Dee was thoughtful and bright and worked for the OMEGA Institute as a Bookkeeper. Dee was very spiritual and she extended her kindness to others as a volunteer for Hudson Valley Hospice. She was an amazing cook and baker who was famous for her delicious chocolate cake. Dee loved animals and her Yorkie, Lily, brought her hours of smiles. Earlier in her life she enjoyed ball room dancing.

On October 31, 2008 Dee married James Hansen in Rhinebeck, New York and is survived by James at home in Poughkeepsie and her adoring sister Jane Crespon of Carmel, NY. Dee was a loving mother to her son Lawrence Cantamessa of Brewster, NY., her daughters Lisa Fine of Palenville, NY., and Eve Cappello of Fishkill, NY. Dee is also survived by her two stepchildren James R. Hansen and his wife Colleen of Poughkeepsie, NY., Eric Hansen and his wife Rose of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, and her five grandchildren that always brought out the sparkle in her eye Olivia, Hailey, Cassandra, Alexandra, Katherine, Christina and great-granddaughter Emerson. Dee was predeceased by her brother David Roberts.

There will be a Celebration of Dee’s Life on Thursday August 2, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. At 7:30pm during the Celebration there will be a Prayer Service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that Memorial Donations be made in Dee’s name to Hudson Valley Hospice 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
