Obituary of Lucille L. Gower

Lucille Lucy (Uciferi) Gower, a fifty year resident of the Hudson Valley, died at the age of 86 in her home in Pleasant Valley, New York on August 07, 2018 from acute myeloid leukemia.  Lucille was born on February 22, 1932 in Scranton, PA to Peter and Albina (Zatawesky) Uciferi.  She was raised in her beloved town of Mount Pocono, PA and maintained her parent's home there until her death.  Lucille graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1949 and attended Syracuse University from 1949 to 1950.  She then attended Cedar Crest College from 1950 to 1951, completing her BA in 1968 at East Stroudsburg Teachers College.  Lucille taught English at Poughkeepsie High School from 1969 to 1994. During that time she earned a Master’s Degree in Education and Administration.   A lifelong learner, she enjoyed books, music, shopping, and gardening.  Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Ralph), and son-in-law (Robert).  She is survived by three children Raven Foresman, Sharon (Jay) Miller, Robert (Laurie) Gower; grandchildren Robert, Jason, Erica, Kelly, Kyle, August, Natalie and Alaina; and seven great-grandchildren.   A service will be held on Tuesday August 14th, 2018 at 11 am at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Chapel.   In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her name Hudson Valley Hospice.  Hvhospice.org
