Obituary of Joyce Martin
Joyce Conklin Martin, 87 of Poughkeepsie died January 12, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Joyce was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on September 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Carlton and the late Ruth Mead Conklin.
Joyce was a local resident all of her life and was a graduate of Arlington High School.
Joyce was an artist at Western Publishing and a waitress at Dick Sarra’s Restaurant, in Red Oaks Mills.
On August 20, 1955 in Pleasant Valley, New York Joyce married Robert E. " Bobby "Martin, he predeceased her on July 8, 2011.
Joyce was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Poughkeepsie, where she directed the Rainbow’s Program, Bible School and many other activities within the church. Joyce was never spotted without her sparkly earrings and rings. She believed in celebrating every occasion from big to small. She loved her family, church and enjoying a delicious dessert.
Joyce is survived by her children Kim D. Stickle of Poughkeepsie, Kelly Murphy and her husband Leonard of Poughkeepsie, Douglas Martin of Poughkeepsie, Tamara Sherwood and her husband Daniel of Poughquag, grandchildren Robert Stickle, Nicole Chaudhri and her husband Tariq, Jonnelly McGrath and her husband Travis, Zachary Sherwood, Jancy Sherwood and fiance Geary McLeod, great grandchildren Sloane McGrath, Waverly McGrath, Abraham Chaudhri, sisters Judy Brandow and her husband Buddy, Nancy Brinckerhoff and brother Carlton Conklin.
Joyce was predeceased by her son-in-law Irving Stickle and brother-in-law Frank Brinckerhoff.
Funeral Service and Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
